Catarinices was created by Catarina Inácio, from a deep understanding that caring for a child is never just about supervision — it is about presence, sensitivity and trust.
With a background in theatre, cultural programming and work with children, Catarina brings a natural attention to detail, emotion and human connection to each experience.
Working with a small and carefully selected team, Catarinices offers a consistent, calm and thoughtful presence for children — while parents can truly relax and enjoy their time in Pico.
I'm Joana and I'm from Pico. I left the island to follow my dream of being a Kindergarten Teacher, but the island never left me.
I returned home to embrace a new and unique Educational project on the island of Faial (Jardim do Mar), where the priority was the Child Being, Nature, Non-violent Communication, Active Listening and Full Attention to the Interests of the Child. I really like nature and hiking, I like music, singing, dancing, telling stories and I practice yoga. I looked into yoga because I noticed how busy adults are and how this in turn ends up influencing children. I am interested in other pedagogies, such as: Waldorf and Forest School, as well as positive discipline and conscious parenting, participating in some trainings.
